GIMP on 11.04?

Asked by Mathilda Young

I have installed GIMP on 11.04 and I cannot seem to get it to start. I can choose GIMP from the menu but I only see a notification on the bottom panel saying that it is starting GIMP and then nothing happens. The notification does go away but GIMP does not start.

Please open a terminal and type:

gimp

to have better control of runtime gimp running errors.

I typed "gimp" (without the quotes) in a terminal and here is what it said:

gimp: error while loading shared libraries: libgegl-0.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Still from terminal type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get install --reinstall libgegl

the system ask you a password give your user password, you will not see nothing when you type it, then press enter

Then retry...
